Course aim:

The major objective of the course is to develop students’ speaking and listening skills. The course will focus on the following:

1.       the development of listening comprehension (e.g. students’ presentations, listening to CDs, music, films, etc)

2.       continuous development of fluency

3.       use of varied and appropriate vocabulary

4.       correct pronunciation and lexical structures

 

Course description:

Before every class students may be required to listen to English TV, radio news and podcasts or watch video materials assigned by the instructor. Listening tasks will be followed by some speaking activities.  Students are obliged to learn the vocabulary in the listening and speaking exercises  provided by the teacher. Students’ listening comprehension (homework or new listening material) as well as their knowledge of the lexical items will be tested around 4 times in the semester, approximately every 3rd week (students match phrases to make a proper collocation, provide synonyms, fill in gaps, translate, mark the word stress, etc.).

Credit requirements:

vocabulary test (20%) + final listening comprehension test (40%) + final interview (30%)
