Between eight and ten core topics are to be covered during the academic year, from thefollowing choice of twelve:1. Politics and International Relations2. Work and Careers3. Sport, Games and Fitness4. Gender Issues5. Alternative Ideas6. Psychology7. Arts and Culture8. Entertainment9. Media and Journalism10. Ethical Issues11. Science and Technology12. EducationVocabulary work should form a substantial part of the course. It is recommended thatteachers use Cambridge Proficiency Level (or the US equivalent) vocabulary exercises as aminimum.Teacher will regularly test students on vocabulary encountered during the course. Theformat of the tests should mirror thevocabulary part of the end of year exam. It is a goodidea to get students to devise tests on assigned topics for each other.Teacher will provide a wide variety of resources (text, video, audio, web pages) andactivities (role plays, debates etc) as stimuli for discussion.Teacher will give students regular feedback on their oral performance.
