Building on the phonetic competence the students have acquired so far, the course is designed to drill selected segments and raise student’s awareness of suprasegmentals of American English as well as to increase their knowledge of weak forms and causal speech. Apart from revising selected aspects of American English, the course is geared to model students’ pronunciation on native speakers’.

The course will describe the current linguistic situation in the UK and Ireland. Focus will be placed on case studies of official minority languages in these countries considering their history, the current sociolinguistic situation and future perspectives. We will also discuss issues connected with migrant languages and language teaching/learning in view of the current, mostly political, changes.

Celem kursu jest przekazanie ogólnej i praktycznej wiedzy na temat tłumaczenia pisemnego oraz ustnego z języka polskiego na język angielski, a także z języka angielskiego na język polski.
Student powinien opanować nowe i ugruntować istniejące słownictwo języka angielskiego w różnych rejestrach poprzez ćwiczenia tłumaczeniowe pisemne i ustne, a także rozwinąć umiejętności komunikacji w języku angielskim.
Student ma obowiązek przygotowywać się do zajęć, brać w nich aktywny udział, wygłaszać prezentacje, a także zdać wszystkie testy cząstkowe oraz test końcowy.
