This course examines the current topics in the ethnogenesis of the Germanic peoples. It will introduce students to the methodology of investigating ancient languages and cultures and offers an introduction to the problem of Germanic origins according to the ancient Greek and Roman authors confronted with the recent findings of the historical-comparative linguistics and history of culture of the Indo-European peoples.
