15-FIF-NA-22 (Summer semester)
The aim of this course provides a thorough overview of English phonetics and some elements of English phonology. Upon successfully completing this course, you will be able to at least: (1) read and write phonemic and allophonic transcription for English; (2) understand basic professional description of speech sounds; (3) describe the sounds of English, and compare them to those of Polish; (4) describe the pronunciation of English above the level of the segment (e.g. word stress); (5) use basic professional tools, such as dictionaries and transcription systems.
