The main objective of the course is to provide students with language skills that they need to effectively communicate in the business environment. To this end, various concepts related to the pragmatics of human communication will be discussed, i.e. speech acts, verbal vs. non-verbal communication, and politeness. The theoretical part will be followed by practical exercises where these concepts will be applied to specific business situations, such as negotiations, meetings, small talk, and socialising. Since public speaking in an important skill used in business communication in English, students will learn how to prepare and deliver a successful oral presentation.
