The course familiarizes students with the history and development of British Literature from the 18th century until the early Victorian era. The students read and discuss canonical 18th and 19th century texts, as well as learning relevant literary terms ad characteristics of the periods. The goal of the course is to familiarize students with literary history and to prepare them to independently read and analy literary texts, while taking into account cultural and historical context. Marks are awarded on the basis of class participation, quizzes, two practice writing assignments and a semester test.
