The course is part and parcel of the MA translation
programme. The main aim of the course is to acquaint students with key ideas
concerning science and technology. Having completed the course the students
should be able to translate fairly complex texts on scientific and technical
topics. During the workshop students might also practice interpreting of short
speeches on basic science (sight translation, liaison). They should also know
passively and use actively the vocabulary of science and technology in both
English and Polish. The main aim is not to learn vocabulary by heart but to
understand the ideas behind words.
