The course is part and parcel of the BA Translation Programme. The main aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic ideas concerning politics and media in the English-speaking countries (the UK and US mostly) as well as Poland. Having completed the course students should be able to see the differences between the political systems in the UK, US and Poland. The students should also know and be able to use the most well-known news outlets in the UK, US and Poland. They should also know passively and use actively the vocabulary of politics and media in both English and Polish. They should be able to understand the vocabulary of politics and media in context. Students can also translate short texts on politics and media from Polish to English and English to Polish.
The students will be obliged to prepare for the classes, fill in vocabulary lists in Quizlet, make presentations, pass all the tests during the year and the final exam.
