The goal of the course is to discuss a wide range of topics related to English phonology, which come to the forefront of the contemporary phonological debate. You will be acquainted with elements of phonological models, principles and tools which have been proposed to describe and analyse segmental and suprasegmental phonological phenomena over the last century. Their practical application will be executed when working on problem tasks in English. Emphasis will be placed on the interaction of phonology with other branches of linguistics, such as phonetics and morphology. This course is an extension of the Phonetics and Phonology 1 course.
