Summary:
This introductory course will allow written translation students to master basic Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools skills and other skills related to IT use for translation, such as using Google search, concordancers, dictionaries, machine translation, etc. A series of practical exercises will introduce the main tool, Memsource Cloud to prepare the students for a practical test and a longer team project which imitates a real-life translation assignment. The team project will allow students to practice their newly acquired skills and practice the use of online translation resources. Assessment will be based on homework assignments, weekly presentations, practical test, and team project.
