In this seminar, entitled ‘Society and language change’, we take a closer look at various aspects of extra-linguistic conditioning of the change at different language levels, e.g. the lexicon and semantics, morphosyntax, phonology and orthography. The participants of the seminar will write their MA theses within the area of historical sociolinguistics and sociopragmatics, and investigate language change with regard to either distant or quite recent times in the history of the English language, depending on individual interests.

The title of the seminar is "Technology in learning
and teaching English as a foreign language". The aim of the course is to assist the participant in the process of writing and successfully completing MA theses. To this end, in the first year, various topics related to technology in English language teaching (ELT) will be discussed. In the second year of the seminar, the students are expected to focus on conducting their empirical projects and writing their papers.
